Prom night is probably the most important event in a girl’s educational life. Girls go that extra mile to make the night one they would never forget. They don’t think twice before spending big time if it is for a dress to be worn on prom night. They take all the effort to look their best. And most of the times they manage to do so.
They get their dressing right. They even get their hairstyles right. The department in which all the girls fall back is make-up. In the attempt to look that extra beautiful, they actually end up looking far uglier than they would have wanted to. Here are some useful tips for all you girls out there on how to apply make-up for your prom night.
Dramatic make-up:
Honestly, prom night make-up is almost the same as everyday make-up. Just add a little drama to it. You could do so by using darker shades in comparatively large quantities. You could also use glamorous additives like glitter and sparkle. Also, make sure to use contours where you have natural ones like under your eyebrows, on your cheekbones, etc. all this makes prom night make-up very dramatic.
Eye make-up:
A must-have for any prom night is a smoky pair of eyes. You could achieve this by using liberal amounts of eyeshade, mascara and eyeliner. Just make sure to apply the eyeliner close to the eyelashes and smudge it up to a certain extent just to thicken your line. Also, ensure that the mascara is waterproof because there might be a lot of happy crying to do before the night is done with. All girls make the common mistake of highlighting both their eyes and their lips. This is, seriously, a no-no. Depending upon the feature you are most complimented for make sure to highlight only one feature at a time. It should either be your eyes or your lips.
Lip color:
As mentioned above, you should concentrate on one aspect of your face. If it isn’t the eyes, then it may be the lips. If you are going with a dramatic eye make-up, then the color on your lips must be something unexciting like light pink. If the eye make-up is not flashy, then you could go ahead and paint your lips bright red. Lip color also depends on the dress you are wearing and on the contemporary fashion.
Protecting your make-up:
Humidity and heat are the main players when it comes to destroying your make-up. So, always make sure to carry a small powder press and some lipsticks in your handbag. You could also try dusting your face with some powder and sprinkling it with some water after you are done with applying your make-up. This will help your make-up stay the way it is.
Amp up your lashes with lengthening mascara and if you have very straight lashes, consider a curling waterproof formula, which will help maintain the curl all night long.
